Since then, like my own podcast John Ibarra has been releasng music just about every week. John's creativity and broad sound palette has been a exciting thing to listen to every week.

John's work is often beautiful, monolithic, sometimes violent, always intriguing and involving.

This week with Binaural Amnesia John continues his podcast with a miniature, in fact the very shortest in duration since his first (Bueno Cancelo was :38). This piece is about John's reflections on what forgetting actually is, and the noise and static breakouts recall the short circuits of the mind, and the what can happen to the mind only few feet above the third rail repeatedly over a long period time.

If have not yet done so, check out John's podcast, click here to subscribe with iTunes.

Though it's difficult to connect stand-up comedy and experimental noise music, I have to say one of the biggest influences in my most impressionable years were the jokes, quips, tirades and wisdom of George Carlin. To the left is a mock-up made of the photocopied cover of the tape my friend, Mark Hurley, made of a George Carlin tape I listened to, repeatedly, every day, in 9th grade on the school bus. His most recent HBO special, It's Bad For Ya, showed his in a bit weathered, but ultimate his wit was as sharp as ever.

Also this week, the Barry Seroff Podcast begins it's second series, Call And Response, the first a number of Barry's collaborations. This series is four episodes of Barry collaborating with yours truly. We both recorded two tracks the "calls", then we swapped, and recorded the "responses". I choose to limit myself to my Pushpin/Gameboy synth, and Barry hit me with big surprises. The first episode is Prelude. This one begin on my end, I made a twisted cascade of arp-ed Gameboy squeaks and Barry responded with some gorgeous guitar work. Also check out the latest episode of the Painful Leg Injuries Podcast Duo:East Berlin Is For Lovers the latest of my Hobnox Multiplication series and this time I make a sci-fi-techno-mosh-pit-freak-out, that I think you'll love.

We will be taking a brief break from updates, so the podcasts will return on July 14th.

Until then take care.

Update 6/16

Hello everyone, it's out, David Lee Myers and Marco Oppedisano's Tesla At Coney Island, the latest release on OKSRNA. His early work as Arcane Device is the foundation of much of today's electronic music. Marco Oppedisano blew me away with his gorgeous ribbons of swirling guitar, from the first time I stumbled across his myspace page. Together the make a powerful as Tesla At Coney Island demonstrates.

The Barry Seroff Podcast this week is Piano, lovely and tense recording on the aforementioned instrument. Don't miss Barry performing his Duo #3 in NYC this week. Here's some details :

ASM Presents
Another All Premieres Extravaganza
Thursday 19 June 2008 at 8 pm
at
The Pig And Whistle
165 West 47th Street
(BDFV to Rockefeller Center, NRW to 49th St, 1CE to 50th).

El Plan De Aguavodka's latest episode is Meanwhile In Another Corner of the Afterlife, it's a another effects processed batch of AM radio which is full on blast of filtered noise that sounds eerily like a cello, awesome.

The Painful Leg Injuries continue Hobnox Multiplication series with Quartet : Guru Dance The Beakers Broke Orca Laughed. It's sounds like two dozen processed techno records playing simultaneously. If you dig Lightning Bolt, Sonny Sharrock or Metallica, you should listen to this.

The Painful Leg Injuries conclude the Improvisations for Gameboy series this week with the sixth episode IGB6.

El Plan De Aguavodka's latest, Radiating Lines to Indicate Light is absolutely lovely, as radiant and colorful as it's title suggests.

Next week, we won't be updating the podcasts in light of the holiday, we will return the following week, 6/2.

Update 5/12

Welcome back everyone. He's a multi-instrumentalist, who challenges the notion of how one's supposed to play an instrument. He's also got the musical chops to know what he's actually doing. It's a bit of a departure from our other podcasts that primarily focus on electronic abstraction what we have here is just as abstract, but also largely unplugged and plug-in free. The first episode is Flute, part of his first series of solo improvisations on six different instruments. Anyway, this week's podcasts are now up, with Accumulation, the final episode of Alex Spalding's Dead Pulse series, and the title is very appropriate. A dense fog builds, with lovely textures.

El Plan De Aguavodka explores a Phill Niblock territory with Dry River Bed Dreams Of Flood. Great tones, build into complicated frequency overlays, five excellent minutes.

Finallys there's builds and releases, though Gameboys don't sound like tornadoes. The Painful Leg Injuries' third episode of the Improvisations for Gameboy series arrives this week.

Be sure to tune in next week for the premiere episode of the Barry Seroff Podcast. Eerie and subtle.

Alex Spalding's latest is Warm. Which sounds like a chip-tune version of a porn soundtrack. Pretty awesome.

The Painful Leg Injuries's latest is the second of series of Improvisations for Gameboy Color Pushpin synth. This time I try to ruin 8bit music's cute reputation with spiky aggression. Well, it is still cute in some places.

On May 5th our old friend Barry Seroff returns with his new weekly podcast. Don't miss it.

Also, don't forget to check out the new album by the Harmful Free Radicals, Duplicate Factories of Washington State. Click here to listen and purchase.

See you next week.

Update 4/14

Welcome back everyone.

New podcast this week. The Painful Leg Injuries have begun a new series, Improvisations for Gameboy. A follow up to the 2007 series called Instant Compositions For Gameboy, however since that time I've built an interface to run the Pushpin cartridge which turns a Gameboy Color into a MIDI-operable synth. I put it to use in six part series.

El Plan De Aguavodka's latest episode is Tall, Dark and Wanted which sounds like a miniature Ennio Morricone soundtrack. Progenesis is Alex Spalding's latest surprisingly pretty and ambient.

Don't forget to check out our latest CD-R release The Harmful Free Radicals' Duplicate Factories of Washington State.

See you next week.

Update 4/7

Good morning everyone, this is an exciting week for us here at OKSRNA. The first CD-R release of 2008 is now out and available, The Harmful Free Radicals' Duplicate Factories of Washington State. To listen to the songs and/or purchase click here.

Aside from being the first CD-R we've released this year, it's also the project that lead to the start of the label. It began in 2003 when myself, and Jonah Goldstein (The Unevenness of the Moon’s Surface), found ourselves briefly living on the same coast for first time in many years. We decided to resume our old habit of recording bizarre experimental pop music together and see what became of it. Duplicate Factories of Washington State is result of those '03 sessions plus four years of songwriting, re-recording and editing. It's pop songs in the vein of Gastr Del Sol's Camofleur album, David Sylvain's Blemish, Brian Eno's Before and After Science and Animal Collective's Sung Tongs. But you guys know us by now, those are references only, we've never made music that is easily described.

To download the track Can I Eat The Whole Thing? click here.

In other news, starting in May, Barry Seroff, formerly of riotous punk-jazz band Little Ricky's House of Chankletas will be returning to the fold as our with new weekly podcast. It feature Barry doing what he loves, lots of exploration and improv, and he'll also be doing some collaborating. I can't wait to hear this stuff, so I've got something to look forward to in May besides Austin's infamous heat.

Now to this week's podcasts. This week the Painful Leg Injuries drop the final episode of the Up With The Ether series, with Avoicable Voids. Among the thousands shouting on a radio for your attention, one person may possess wisdom, if you can figure out what they are saying.

El Plan De Aguavodka does the best Paris Hilton remix ever with Paris Destroyed. Al hilarious, deeply engaging and exciting piece to listen to, amazing that John could find something so interesting in music made by imho one of the five worst people in America.

Alex Spalding's latest is Seduction (Prolonged). A minimal techno song, with a tense atmosphere waiting for release.

Take care, until next week.

Update 3/31

Welcome back, folks.

The Harmful Free Radicals, my pop duo with Jonah Goldstein, (the co-owner of OKSRNA along with myself, and of U/M/S) will finally have our debut album, Duplicate Factories of Washington State see release any day now. This project started in 2003 and lead to the creation of this label, but because of the distance between us, Jonah lives in LA, I was in NYC, now I'm in Austin, we only had rare opportunities to work on it. It's a weird hybrid of indie rock, experimental electronics and just flat out pop songs, and it's quite a surprising direction for us, and it's nothing like the Painful Leg Injuries or the Unevenness of the Moon's Surface. All you CT folks are totally invited.

Saturday April 5th,
8 PM
Neverending Books
810 State St., New Haven
Free!
www.neverendingbooks.net
http://www.nhic-music.org/

We will be premiering my piece, 'For 6', as well as works by Bob Gorry, Nate Trier, Jeff Cedrone, JohnVenterr and Stephen Zieminski. My father gave me a classic Heathkit 5w 7800 receiver for my birthday, which I then routed to my computer, and on a separate channel routed to my Casio SK-1's sampler input. From there on, I found scan around looking for sounds and voices, many of the titles in the series come from what I think the voices are saying. Enjoy!

Had a great weekend last week, when co-owner of OKSRNA, Jonah Goldstein and I met up for the first time in quite a while to start work on the second Harmful Free Radicals album. Our debut, Duplicate Factories of Washington State is at the printer's right now and should be available very soon.

The El Plan De Aguavodka Podcast returns this week with the sixth episode of Forced Confession. First up, our very first free digital download release, my band the Painful Leg Injuries' The Rich Man's Godforsaken Driver's Seat.

To give it a listen click here, or to download it click here. This free album is a collection of my compositions and improvisations made by using the Nintendo Wiimote as a controller for music

From the moment I first started reading about the possibility, I've been very excited about the Wiimote as a music controller. When I bought one, and got the software and everything working it was inspiring and I recorded many tracks, and these are the fruits of those sessions. The thirteen tracks in this collection combine compositions with improvisations, the conceptual with the intuitive, and noise with melodies. software, soft synths and samplers, a Pushpin Gameboy Color synth as well as my circuit bent instruments such as my Casio Sk1, Speak and Spell. They are 192 kbps MP3 files, and completely DRM free. Flying Through The Eye At An Alarming Time features recorded samples of me knocking my TV with my Wiimote, samples that were eventually played by his Wiimote. This Is Playful For Diseases is made up completely of improvisations with his Wiimote controlled Pushpin Gameboy synth, and Wiimote played samples of the LSDJ Gameboy tracker software, an anachronistic take on Nintendo gear. Michael Winslow Has His Revenge (On Clever Dated References) features a digital instrument completely made from samples of the 80's actor/comedian. Thanks in

We plan to release free download albums frequently with projects by advance and we hope you enjoy it.El Plan De Aguavodka, The Harmful Free Radicals and The Unevenness of the Moon's Surface on the horizon.

Speaking of the Harmful Free Radicals, my weirdo pop band project with OKSRNA co-owner and the man behind the U/M/S, Jonah Goldstein, our debut album The Duplicate Factories of Washington State is being printed this week. We've put up a sample track, Can I Eat The Whole Thing? which can be downloaded here. We'll keep you posted on it's release here.

Now for the week's podcasts, let's start with Little Ricky's House of Chankletas. More of their How-To series, this time they do a Smegma/LAFMS style psych-jazz number with Ch.4 - Be A Slick Neighborhood Cat. You will become cooler if you listen this and people will like you. Don't miss them as they perform live this Saturday, February 9th at 8PM, at the Yippie Museum Cafe, 9 Bleecker St, across from the club formally known as CBGB's and it's Free.

El Plan De Aguavodka's latest Forced Confession continues his take on taking the Presque Rein concept to the urban environment, with Forced Confession No.4 - An Underground Death for Orange Alerts. Reminds me of just how insane the MTA could make anyone. Lovely, surreal, another great one from John.

Finally, The Painful Leg Injuries latest podcast, I Bet Richter Loves My Bloody Valentine. Continuing my series Shot By The Hip I used the image above as the source material for this composition. What's weird is that not long after I made this one, I read that MBV are back together for real and are working on the follow up to Loveless. So is GNR! Though I think the MBV, should it happen, will be a lot better.

Phew, this is longest update I've done in a while, I think I need a nap.

1/28 Update

The latest round of podcasts starts off with the explosive finale to Alex Spalding's Imperformance series called Lasting Ash, a great full on, yet structured noise jam.

Next, Little Ricky's House of Chankletas delivers their third How-to with Ch. 3 - Name A Song Testicles. High volume drums, rock-out-rock, where they just indeed showed us how to do exactly that.

Another spooky field recording from El Plan De Aguavodka with the Forced Confession No.3 - Overspeed Government and Slow Chaos in the Ascending Room. Eerie near silence creates the most foreboding atmosphere you've heard in a while.

The Painful Leg Injuries drop Boldy Diagonal a rough and tumble translation of the above image.

Enjoy, stay tuned for next Monday's release of the Painful Leg Injuries free download album The Rich Man's Godforesaken Driver's Seat, a collection of PLI's music made with the Nintendo Wiimote and the first of OKSRNA's new free album series. An odd gaggle of weirdo voices.

Then, El Plan De Aguavodka gives us the haunted Forced Confession No.2- Prince Street Uroborus. I found it to be frightening as hell, almost like the weird feedback is some sort of ghostly communication. Prince Street would have a lot of ghosts if you believe in such things.

Alex Spalding's Blue Vein Catheter is a spiky noise jam, with some very rocky textures. Next week, check out the final episode of his awesome Imperformance series.

For this week's Painful Leg Injuries podcast, I decided to use this extremely blurry shot for Zoetrope for Muybridge. For the second episode of my Shot By The Hip series I used the MIDI from the above photo and picked odd sounding soft synths. Enjoy.

Our free download releases will begin soon, including a collection of the complete Unevenness of the Moon's Surface Podcasts and The Painful Leg Injuries collection of recordings made with Ninetendo Wiimote called The Rich Man's Godforesaken Driver's Seat, stay tuned for more updates.

Until next week.

Update 1/14

Welcome to the first update of 2008.

All of our podcasts have returned with new episodes. Alex Spalding gives us a a noisy epic juggernaut with Opoponax, continuing his Imperformance series.

The Little Ricky's House of Chankletas crew deliver a series of "How To" compositions beginning with the darkly spatial How To Put a Cactus To Sleep.

El Plan De Aguavodka serves up a droning sound scape with Forced Confession No.1- Plowshare Painted Night, lovely, scary processed field recording.

The Painful Leg Injuries podcast resumes with a new processed image series called Shot By The Hip. Each part of this series is an image I found on my cell phone that it had taken without my knowledge of the event.
